This track consists of finding alignments between food concepts from CIQUAL, the French food nutritional composition database, and food concepts from SIREN (food v2 with MELT and SEALS, see below) or there direct super classes (food v2sub). Foods from both databases are described in LanguaL, a well-known multilingual thesaurus using faceted classification.
CIQUAL is the French food nutritional composition database. It is managed by ANSES, the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety. The food concepts description from CIQUAL 2017 version is available as a dataset in an OWL representation . It includes 2,807 foods, of which 1,797 are fully described using LanguaL.
SIREN (is the Scientific Information and Retrieval Exchange Network) is a dataset indexed by LanguaL, available here: http://langual.org/langual_indexed_datasets.asp. It's OWL representation is published .
LanguaL stands for "Langua aLimentaria" or "language of food".LanguaL is a well-known multilingual thesaurus using faceted classification. More than 40,000 foods used in food composition databases are described using LanguaL.
LanguaL is based on the following hypothesis:
i) any food can be systematically described using a combination of characteristics;
ii) these characteristics can be categorized into viewpoints, composed of one or several facets, and coded for computer processing;
iii) the resulting food description codes can be used to retrieve food data from Food Composition DataBases (FCDBs);
The hierarchy of characteristics is present in the SIREN OWL representation, and the root is identified by the uri http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/FOODON_00000
The correspondences output by the systems will be automatically compared to a gold standard.
